The UNIVERSITY Of Oxford AFRICA SOCIETY, THE OTHER FOUNDATION AND GIVEOUT TEAM UP FOR LGBTQI RIGHTS
July 20, 2018
(OXFORD)— On Saturday 19 May 2018, The University of Oxford Africa Society held the ‘A Million Ones’ dinner in aid of the Southern African charity The Other Foundation. AfriSoc partnered with GiveOut to establish a one-off mechanism for donations, which allowed attendees of the dinner to show their support for the regional LGBTQI movement by donating to The Other Foundation in a tax-efficient way.
This forms part of GiveOut’s sustained commitment to innovatation in the fundraising space.
The event was a great success and the gifts donated will go a long way to supporting the projects funded by The Other Foundation. Projects will be funded on the recommendation of the Foundation’s peer reviewers and with the approval of these by the Board.
The University of Oxford Africa Society (AfriSoc or OUAS) seeks to set the agenda for the future of the African continent by providing a platform for students hailing from or interested in Africa to critically engage. The society is a community of change agents passionate about Africa. Representatives of LGBTQI chapters from different colleges at Oxford and members of AfriSoc were in attendance at the dinner.
