I fundamentally believe that we all want to be seen for who we are. AMPLIFUND will enable our partners to continue their work, empowering queer people to feel understood, recognised and heard in all the places we call home.
Tag Warner, CEO GAY TIMES
Amplifund was established to support LGBTQI activists around the world in their campaigning and media work. Managed by the award-winning charity GiveOut, the fund is generously sponsored by Gay Times, the world’s longest-running LGBTQI magazine.
Gay Times is committed to the amplification of queer voices and experiences. In line with this, Amplifund ensures that LGBTQI organisations have more of the resources they need to influence coverage of LGBTQI issues in the mainstream media through amplifying a diverse range of voices.
Around the world, coverage of LGBTQI issues in the media has a significant impact on the treatment of LGBTQI people. Due to this, engaging with journalists and media outlets to promote accurate and positive coverage of LGBTQI issues is an important strategy used by activists worldwide. Many LGBTQI organisations also work to provide accessible information to their communities, ensuring that they have more of the resources and knowledge they need to access their human rights.
Amplifund has been established to bring new resources into the global LGBTQI movement to support LGBTQI organisations in their campaigning and media work. Individuals and businesses can support the Fund by donating to GiveOut, which then makes grants to LGBTQI organisations around the world.
Through a rigorous process of consultation, due diligence and vetting, GiveOut works with Gay Times to identify grant recipients under Amplifund, which form part of GiveOut’s overall portfolio of grants to support LGBTQI human rights activism worldwide.
GiveOut is a charity registered with the Charity Commission for England and Wales (Registered Charity Number 1176434).
