Supporting campaigning and media activism

Gay Times and GiveOut have announced a new philanthropic initiative, AMPLIFUND, which aims to support LGBTQ activists around the world in their campaigning and media work. The initiative was launched in the Benjamin West Theatre at The Royal Academy, London.

Two organisations, J-FLAG based in Jamaica and IraQueer in Iraq, will be amongst the first global partners to receive grants under AMPLIFUND. The initiative will be funded by Gay Times’ corporate partnerships, subscriptions and individual donations.

AMPLIFUND’s first UK-wide media campaign

Through the fund, Gay Times aims to bring more diverse voices to the forefront of mainstream LGBTQ media. To complement the launch of AMPLIFUND, Gay Times is rolling out a UK-wide ‘out of home’ media campaign in collaboration with Grey London, MediaCom and ClearChannel, to challenge the perception of LGBTQ experiences both in the UK and internationally. The campaign will also explore how we think about charitable giving and supporting our community around the world.

Partners supported under AMPLIFUND

IraQueer is the only LGBTQ-focused organisation in Iraq. They work to raise awareness of LGBTQ identities, and advocate for legal and policy changes on behalf of the community. IraQueer also provides a temporary safe house to LGBTQ individuals fleeing violence in Iraq and has supported more than 200 people in their asylum claims.

As the foremost human rights organisation working for LGBTQ people in Jamaica, J-FLAG work to increase public understanding of LGBTQ people, create the foundation for legal reform and engage the wider community in LGBTQ issues. They organise Pride in Jamaica which brings together queer Jamaicans in a week of celebration, reflection and visibility.

How to donate

To support AMPLIFUND, visit or click on the ‘Donate’ button below. Enter your donation details and include a message to indicate that your donation is intended to support the fund, e.g. “AMPLIFUND”.

You will be able to choose whether Gift Aid can be claimed on your donation by completing the Gift Aid Declaration, meaning GiveOut can claim an extra 25p for every £1 you give. It won’t cost you any extra as long as you pay more Income Tax and/or Capital Gains Tax than the amount of Gift Aid claimed.
