Macquarie has supported GiveOut for over five years, enabling our partner organisations around the world to campaign for lasting change and advocate for the rights of LGBTQI people where it is most crucial. City for LGBT+ was launched in 2019 by Macquarie, The Funding Network, LGBT Consortium and GiveOut to support LGBTQI organisations to create tangible change through increasing public awareness and support for LGBTQI issues, as well as advocating for a better future for communities around the world.
Macquarie’s Pride EMEA Employee Network Group (ENG) hosts the annual event at the regionally headquartered London office. Beyond supporting GiveOut, the company was named the UK’s No.1 Employer in the UK in 2022 for LGBTQ+ people in Stonewall’s Workplace Equality Index, and their Pride ENG was acknowledged as a Highly Commended Network Group for the fourth year in a row.
The fifth City for LGBT+ live crowdfunding event last year was our most successful ever, raising a record £130,000 for the three nominated charity partners working to protect LGBTQI communities, thanks to the generous support of Macquarie’s Group Foundation who provided matching funding of the total amount raised at the event.
In just five years of running the event, together we have been able to provide vital resources to support the rebuilding of safe spaces in Jamaica, use the law and courts to advance equality through strategic litigation in Kenya and protect LGBTQI communities at risk in the Middle East and North Africa region, plus more to support LGBTQI communities around the world.
Macquarie recognises that Pride is more than just a month and empowers LGBTQI colleagues, clients, communities, and allies, through building an environment where everyone has equitable opportunities and supporting LGBTQI rights around the world – year round.
Thank you to Macquarie for supporting the global LGBTQI community and for being the founding partner for City for LGBT+.
