(LONDON)— Last week, GiveOut launched The Suki Sandhu LGBTQI Asia Fund at a private dinner in Soho Square. In collaboration with Camm & Hooper, one of GiveOut’s corporate sponsors, the event was held at the incredible Six Storeys venue and was generously donated by the events management company.
Suki Sandhu, Founder and CEO of Audeliss and INvolve, established the Fund in partnership with GiveOut to help support activists all across Asia who are campaigning for dignity, equality and the freedom to be themselves, by providing them with the resources they desperately need.
Rosanna Flamer-Caldera, Executive Director of EQUAL GROUND, one of the grant recipients under the Fund, spoke about the situation for LGBTQI Sri Lankans and window of opportunity for decriminalisation of same-sex relations in Sri Lanka following the landmark Supreme Court ruling in India.
“We were absolutely delighted to welcome Rosanna Flamer-Caldera to share challenges and opportunities for the Sri Lankan LGBTQI movement and her experience as a leading activist. The event was fun and meaningful, and we were excited to celebrate the launch of The Suki Sandhu LGBTQI Asia Fund by hearing from one of the Fund’s first grantee partners.”
