On Friday 12 October, at its ‘Autumn Activate’ event at Altitude, Millbank Tower, GiveOut launched its first portfolio of grants to support LGBTQI activism around the world. Grant recipients were identified through a rigorous process of consultation, due diligence and vetting, working with existing activist-led organisations.
GiveOut’s aim is to have impact in a range of ways including long term, flexible support, with our portfolio of grant recipients reflecting the diversity and complexity of the global LGBTQI movement. From training grassroots activists in Southeast Asia and building movements in East Africa, to raising the visibility of trans communities in the Caribbean and campaigning for decriminalisation of same sex relations in Sri Lanka, a donation to GiveOut has impact across the LGBTQI movement globally. And with Gift Aid, GiveOut can claim 25p extra for every £1 given by individuals.
“Congratulations to GiveOut on an incredible first year and thank you to its donors for their support and solidarity with LGBTQI activists around the world.”

“At a time when resources for LGBTQI activism are scarce and fragile, support from those in our global LGBTQI community is needed now more than ever”, said Rosanna Flamer-Caldera, the Executive Director of the Sri Lankan LGBTQI organisation EQUAL GROUND, one of GiveOut’s first grant recipients.
The event was generously sponsored by Altitude London.
