GiveOut is proud to announce the appointment of Radhika Piramal to its Board of Trustees.
Radhika Piramal is Vice Chair and Executive Director of VIP Industries, India’s leading luggage company. She is one of few openly lesbian Indian business leaders and is a prominent speaker globally on LGBTQI inclusion.
Radhika has been recognised in the Economic Times India’s 40 under 40 Business Leaders in 2015, received CNBC-India TV18’s Award for Young Business Woman in 2016, and was awarded the highly respected Business Today India’s Most Powerful Women award for three consecutive years in 2015, 2016 and 2017.
She has also shown extensive leadership on LGBTQI equality and inclusion, describing her personal journey to be an out and proud leader – whether in The Economic Times, in Vogue India, or in personal talks to community groups and corporate audiences. Most recently, in the context of the hearings by the Indian Supreme Court this year, Radhika has spoken and written externally on the importance of and strong case for marriage equality in India.
Radhika Piramal said:
“I’m thrilled to join GiveOut, an award winning LGBTQI community foundation which makes grants to grassroots organisations working to overcome discrimination against LGBTQI communities across the world. I’m looking forward to sharing my understanding of the Indian LGBTQI landscape as well as learning from the amazing GiveOut team.”
Elliot Vaughn, founder and Chair of GiveOut said:
“We are pleased and excited to welcome Radhika Piramal to become a trustee of GiveOut. Radhika has a powerful voice for LGBTQI inclusion and also contributes outstanding skills as a highly experienced senior business leader. I am proud of the talented and diverse global board we have built to guide and grow the work of GiveOut, and Radhika will bring a unique and valuable added perspective.”
The appointment of Radhika comes at an exciting time for GiveOut as it celebrates five years since its founding and the milestone of having channelled more than £1.75m in new funding to the global LGBTQI movement.
